So today we met up with Renate, the founder of Gratuu; all 5 of us attended, which was promising considering that it was our Reading Week and that all of us went home. Even so, we all feel committed and dedicated to the Big Agency project, we felt it was necessary to meet up in this week in order to remain prepared and organised.
Renate explained why she was so passionate about starting up this business due to her personal experiences, which I surprisingly found interesting. Renate wants to eliminate the confusion and awkwardness when it comes to tipping in restaurants and hairdressers. She informed us about so many aspects of tipping that we did not even know existed and I felt so stupid for not knowing this.
Did you know that you now have to pay National Insurance Tax on the tips that you receive? Or that the company you work for has to pay £1,600 to HMRC just for receiving tips? Well I did not until Renate told us.

She told us so much information that was relevant and that I believe to be important, so we have decided to make the meetings a regular occurrence and are now going to have an hour meeting every Monday at 2pm..... I wonder how these will go!
